Tomatoes Slicing, Cherry, Heirloom

Background Information:
Tomatoes are available from late June through October. We grow a variety of cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes and slicing tomatoes.

Basic Usage and Cooking Strategies:
Use when ripe and add to a salad. Slice heirloom tomatoes and display on a large plate, drizzle with olive oil and vinegar, sprinkle with salt and fresh ground pepper for an easy appetizer. Roast tomatoes for a more intense sweetness and to concentrate the flavor. Halve cherry tomatoes and mix with red onion and cucumber, and your favorite vinaigrette dressing, for a tomato salad.

Storage Information:
Tomatoes should be stored at room temperature until ripe and then used within 1-2 days. Freeze or can to use throughout the winter and spring. For complete information on water bath canning be sure to follow best practices outlined by reliable sites such as the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning or
National Center for Home Food Preservation
