Lettuce, Romaine, Red and Green Leaf

Background Information:
We grow several types of lettuce that are available throughout the year. All of our lettuce is washed and cooled immediately after harvest. This process helps to keep the lettuce fresher longer, but it will not remove all of the dirt and sand, so it should be washed again prior to eating.

Basic Usage and Cooking Strategies:
For a great salad, use a salad spinner to remove all of the water after washing. Dress with a simple vinaigrette of minced onion or garlic, Dijon mustard, olive oil and vinegar, and eat right away. Romaine and Little Gem varieties can be cooked on the grill or pan seared, in a skillet over high heat. If you don’t use it right away, cut and store in the freezer and add to your favorite smoothie. Lettuce can also be used in soup, or substituting it in a recipe for spinach.

Storage Information:
Use our lettuce, within the first few days of receiving it for optimum freshness. Lettuce and be cut, washed prior to use. Cut, wash and freeze to save for use in smoothies.
